Supporting the needy

Growing up in the curtain years of the last millennium, and even more so in
the African continent, the reality of education, particularly the lack of it is a
hardship one has to grapple with.

And with the cosmopolitan society we were raised in, any kind of mobility –
be it financial, social or even geographical movement proves to be a tall
order. Right from the onset, parents identified and still look at quality
education as the sure key and path to the very elusive happiness.

It is against this humble background that Prof Oborah has seen prudent to
give back something to a society that has gifted and talented people but
without financial ability to take their talents and gifts to meaningful level
through appropriate education.

This Trust is therefore to provide further access to those that are not wired
for academics, but are either talented uniquely or gifted. Scholarships from the Humphrey Education Trust are therefore for needy but talented / gifted Africans, as evidenced by prior profiles and Professional Gift and Talent Reports.

Prof. Oborah has been very instrumental in initiating a number of social
responsibility functions. These include, but not limited to, the below:

  • Mama Fatuma Homes – Home for children abandoned / without parents
  • Thomas Barnado homes – Home for children abandoned / without parents
  • Huruma Children Home – Home for children abandoned / without parents
  • Starehe Girls Centre – Home for teenage girls in Secondary School who can neither afford food nor fees
  • Mukuru Kayaba Primary School – Slum school for very poor people
  • Eldoret Chidren Rescue Centre – Home for children abandoned/without parents
  • Mwima Chidren Centre Mombasa – Home for children abandoned/without parents
  • Mama Ngina Children’s Home Kisumu – Home for children abandoned / without parents mainly due to loss of the parents to HIV/AIDs
